From Coexistence to Synthesis: The Creative Development of the Research Paradigm of International Political Communication

Abstract: Each discipline has its research paradigm. For an inter-discipline, the paradigm is double or multiple. As far as international political communication is concerned, its research paradigm is dual, which includes the research paradigm of international politics and the research paradigm of communication. So far, the two paradigms have been adopted separately in the studies of international political communication. The building of a unified trans-disciplinary paradigm, which transcends the coexistence and moves towards the synthesis of disciplinary paradigms, will be the future trend of international political communication research. The new paradigm of international political communication, with the hypothesis of “International (Political) Informational Man” as its logical premise, remains a creative development of the disciplinary paradigms of international political communication and will promote the continuous growth of its knowledge.
